Good afternoon,

I'm pleased to send you the 2017 & multi-year water quality monitoring results for Wesquage Pond.  This year Wesquage Pond was monitored by Paul and Laurie McCarthy. They did a great job. The water quality in Wesquage Pond was remarkably different, and better, than in 2016.

I have attached several pdfs.
The first is the 2017 monitoring results. The first page has charts of the field data, the second, the actual numerical results.

The second is the multi-year summary of water quality results, since monitoring began in 1998. It is in this chart you can see the improvements in water clarity, algae levels, phosphorus and nitrogen as compared to 2016. In terms of P & N, the 2017 results are fairly similar to those from ~2005 on.

For comparison I have also attached the 2016 monitoring results.

And I have attached the multi-year Kingston weather summary, which shows departure from 30 year normal for rain (in blue) and temperature (in red.) 2016 was quite dry and hotter than 2017. It is possible that with increased rain there was better flushing of Wesquage Pond.

I hope that Bonnet Fire District will continue sponsoring water quality monitoring in Wesquage Pond this year.

BTW, this is "hot off the press" and not yet on the URI Watershed Watch website.

All best wishes,

Linda Green
